BASE Meeting #32 (that's 2^5) - 7pm Monday 8th Nov at LinkedIn in Mountain View

This month we are delighted to welcome a guest speaker from out of town: Christine Flood from the Fortress Language project. For those who haven't heard of Fortress, it is a mathematically focused functional language that compiles onto the JVM, and has some very unique features like in-built support for parallelism, the ability to use unicode function names, and much more. Here is Christine's description:

"Project Fortress promises multiprocessor performance without having to code threads, locks or load balancing. We present a growable language (small fixed core), strong static typing (more errors found at compile time), and familiar mathematical notation. This talk will focus on the strengths of Fortress as a programming language as well as a deep dive into our implementation status."

LinkedIn is kindly providing facilities and pizza for the event. Check below for information and map:

The room is the main big presentation area called "Unite" at 2025 Stierlin Ct. just up the stairs past the entrance.
As you enter from Shoreline Blvd, and drive down Stierlin, this building will be on your right BEFORE you get to the big courtyard.

There will be some time for lightning talks prior to the main talk, so if you have something you want to talk about - come prepared to give us 5 minutes on it.

Thanks, and see you there. Please plan to arrive a little early.
