BASE, or the Bay Area Scala Enthusiasts, is a Scala user group for Silicon Valley. We meet on the second Monday of every month, and alternate between a location in San Francisco (Twitter's Headquarters behind the Moscone Center) and one in the South Bay (LinkedIn Headquarters in Mountain View). Both companies use Scala and kindly donate facilities for the meetings. Many of our members are able to make it to all the meetings, but by alternating locations between North and South bay, travel challenged members can try and make it to one or the other. The meetings offer a variety of activities, usually anchored by a main talk on a Scala related topic. We also have lightning talks, job networking, project information and volunteering, and the occasional hackathon. BASE is a volunteer run organization but we often have sponsors kind enough to provide food and refreshments for the meetings. For more information, keep an eye on our home page for meeting announcements, subscribe to the BASE Google Group, or check out our BASE events calendar (you can subscribe to this in your preferred calendar application). |
